ObjectDatabase++ has be designed and developed for the needs of Microsoft's DCOM environment and therefore we foresee some developers may wish to port their COMs over to a UNIX platform. Ekky Software has risen to the challenge by producing an embedded ODBMS for a number of UNIX flavors starting of with Linux.
Although there are some distinct differences between how ODBMS work on different OS platforms, the ObjectDatabase++ API will remain the same on all environments. This allows developers using the embedded library to easily port their source code to other support OS without any need to change or learn again how to use a DBMS.
This feature is apart of ObjectDatabase++ to allow the producers of Microsoft's DCOMs to move their components to other supported OS.
There are also some notes for Linux Developers out lining some of the differences when programming between the two Operating Systems.
